Ludwig van Beethoven\u2019s (1770\u20131827) Violin Concerto places immense demands on musicians. Compared to Beethoven\u2019s other compositions, it is an unusually lyrical piece in which the composer makes frequent use of pastoral motifs. Especially worth noting is the middle movement, Larghetto. The solo violin plays mainly in the upper registers, and the melodies are built on simple scale progressions or broken chords. The orchestra primarily plays the role of harmonic anchor, and in some places the pulse of the music nearly comes to a halt. Altogether, the impression is one of an intimate testament that, in the end, is interrupted by the playful virtuoso motif of the subsequent rondo movement.\n\n<\/span><\/h5>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Josef \u0160pa\u010dek is rapidly establishing himself as one of the best violinists of his generation. He studied at New York\u2019s prestigious Juilliard School under the guidance of renowned instructors. Today, he appears with leading orchestras in Europe, the United States, and Asia, and collaborates with the best Czech and foreign conductors. He also gives solo recitals. In 2013, he recorded his debut album for Supraphon: a collection of pieces by Bed\u0159ich Smetana, Leo\u0161 Jan\u00e1\u010dek, and Sergei Prokofiev. Two years later, he joined the Czech Philharmonic and Ji\u0159\u00ed B\u011blohl\u00e1vek in recording Josef Suk\u2019s Fantasy in G Minor, plus violin concertos by Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k and Leo\u0161 Jan\u00e1\u010dek.
